JOST, a leading equipment manufacturer, has set up a second production unit in India, situated near Chennai.
According to reports, this factory is located in the Hiranandani group's Greenbase Industrial and Logistics Park. It is set up to build front loaders, related equipment, and backhoes for the farm brand Quicke. Moreover, 2008 saw the opening of the first factory in Jamshedpur, which manufactures fifth wheels, axles, suspensions, and other items.
The existing facility, which took less than a year to build, is located near the port and in the centre of Chennai's most industrialised neighbourhood, Oragadam. Aside from this, the 16,866 m2 space has assembly lines and modern manufacturing technology installed for production. Also, prominent international manufacturers of passenger cars and commercial vehicles and global research and development centres are located around the plant.
Joachim Dürr, CEO of JOST Werke SE, and other senior management of the company, besides the German Consulate General to India, Chennai Michaela Küchler, attended the grand opening ceremony. The new facility comprises 15,089m² of production area and 17,77m² office area.
Dürr said, "The establishment of the Chennai facility is an important step for JOST and its customers – a competitive manufacturing location for our agricultural product range and a commitment to the strongly growing Indian Tractor OEMs and the Indian agricultural market in general".
He added, "As a valuable addition to our successful operation in Jamshedpur, it also supports our Transport business and customers."
