The Farmtrac 60 Powermaxx is a 55 HP tractor designed for farmers who need strong pulling performance along with flexibility across field and haulage work. Its 245 Nm torque, 49 HP PTO output and T20 gearbox make it suitable for demanding implements. Also, features such as dual clutch, MRPTO and ADDC hydraulics add convenience when switching between different farming operations. The 2WD setup and multiple gear options make it a practical choice for farms handling regular heavy-duty work.
Pros
- High 245 Nm torque supports heavy pulling and demanding field operations.
- 49 HP PTO power provides sufficient output for PTO-driven implements such as rotavators, balers and straw reapers.
- 16 forward + 4 reverse T20 gearbox offers more speed choices for different field and haulage applications.
- Dual clutch with IPTO allows the PTO to remain engaged while changing gears, useful for PTO-operated implements.
- MRPTO provides flexibility when working with different PTO-driven equipment.
- ADDC hydraulics help maintain more consistent implement depth during field operations.
- Up to 2500 kg lift capacity makes it suitable for handling heavier mounted implements, depending on the variant.
- Oil-immersed brakes offer consistent braking with reduced wear.
- Power steering reduces steering effort during field turns and manoeuvring.
- 390 mm ground clearance helps when working over crop residue and uneven field sections.
- Epicyclic rear axle reduction provides additional torque multiplication at the wheels.
Cons
- 2WD configuration may offer less traction than a 4WD tractor in very wet, muddy or highly challenging terrain.
- Lift capacity varies by variant, so buyers should check the exact configuration before purchase.
- 55 HP power category may not be sufficient for farmers specifically looking for a higher-horsepower tractor.
Farmtrac 60 Powermaxx Expert Review
"Farmtrac 60 Powermaxx is a 55 HP tractor built for ploughing and hauling a loaded trolley. It's a 2WD, 3-cylinder, 3514 cc tractor. It features a high torque of 245 Nm that helps in managing heavy-duty implements effortlessly. Its constant-mesh T20 gearbox, with 16 forward & 4 reverse gears enhances efficiency and productivity up to 50%."
The tractor weighs 2280 kg on a 2090 mm wheelbase, with an overall length of 3445 mm, so it stays stable when working with the heavy implement. It also maximizes your field efficiency with 390 mm of ground clearance, which is designed specifically to glide over high stubble and rough headlands. The rear axle uses epicyclic reduction (also known as a planetary gear reduction) acts like a mechanical torque multiplier right at the wheels.
Air reaches the engine through a dry-type filter, which is quicker to clean at the field edge than an oil bath unit. Also, the multiple choice of gears, i.e., 8 / 16 forward and 2/ 4 reverse gears provides different speed for different work.
- The engine of the tractor is composed of 3514 cc, three-cylinder engine rated at 41.01 kW (55 HP category) at 2000 RPM.
- Torque is 245 Nm and PTO power is 49 HP. That low rated speed matters more when pulling a heavy-duty implement. The engine doesn't need to exert more power to pull, so you shift down less often and diesel lasts longer.
- The engine of the model is integrated with a dry-type air filter that ensures straightforward servicing compared to oil-bath designs.
- It's a constant mesh gearbox, offered as 8+2 or 16+4. Most buyers should look at the T20 version with 16 forward and 4 reverse gears.
- Forward speed runs from 2.4 to 31.2 km/h and reverse from 3.6 to 13.8 km/h. That means a crawl slow enough for seeding and a road gear quick enough for the market run.
- Farmtrac claims the T20 gearing raises efficiency by up to 50%. The wide spread of speeds is genuinely useful.
- The gear lever is side-shift, so operators’ hands stay on the wheel while you change gears.
- The dual clutch comes double with an IPTO lever, which keeps the PTO turning while you press the clutch. It is usefuel while running a rotavator or a baler.
- Lift capacity is listed as 1800 kg or 2500 kg depending on the variant.
- The three-point linkage is live and runs ADDC (Automatic Depth and Draft Control), so implement depth holds steady as the soil changes and driver is not required to change teh lever position frequently.
- The PTO is a 6-spline shaft at the standard 540 RPM, with MRPTO (Multi-Speed Reverse PTO) so you can match speed to the implement.
- Getting 49 HP at the PTO from a 55 HP engine is a fair ratio, and it's plenty for heavy implements & equippments
- Brakes are oil-immersed, which wear slowly and stay consistent in wet, muddy fields.
- Power steering is standard, significantly reduce the physical effort required to turn a tractor's wheels.
- Front tyres are 7.5 x 16, and at the back you can choose 14.9 x 28 or 16.9 x 28. Choose the 16.9 if your soil is heavy or freshly loosened, since the wider tyre grips better.
- Halogen lamps at the front and rear, plus indicators on the mudguards, make riding on a tractor safer.
- Farmtrac itself pairs the 60 Powermaxx with a 3-bottom hydraulic reversible MB plough, 6 and 7 foot rotavators, straw reapers, balers and super seeders up to 7 feet.
- The combination of dual clutch, MRPTO and 2500 kg lift suits people who change implements through the season.
