Mahindra Tractor, the leading tractor producer in India, reached a sales number of 35805 tractors in April 2024. This represented an increase of 1.15% from April 2023, with 35398 tractors being sold. Furthermore, there was a 1.78% increase in Mahindra's market share in this timeframe.
Hemant Sikka, President of the Farm Equipment Sector at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., remarked, “They sold 35805 tractors in the domestic market in April 2024, showing a 1% increase from the previous year. The government's wheat procurement activities are in full swing, with strong mandi arrivals maintaining the flow of cash in rural areas”.
Furthermore, he also mentioned that the positive outlook in rural sentiments has been boosted by IMD's prediction of increased monsoon rains and festivals in April. Conditions of trade remain positive, and strong cash flows from the Rabi harvest are expected to increase demand for tractors in the upcoming months. In the market for exports, they have successfully sold 1234 tractors, which represents a 23% increase compared to the previous year.
In April 2024, TAFE sold 13,004 domestic tractors, 10.32% lower than the 14,500 tractors it sold in April 2023. Furthermore, TAFE Tractors experienced a decrease in market share of 1.43%.
