Nagpur, November 27, 2023: Mahindra Tractors, India's leading tractor manufacturer, revealed the first CNG mono-fuel tractor under the YUVO tractor lineup at Agrovision, Nagpur. Agrovision is Central India's largest Agri Summit, which showcases farming innovations. Moreover, the ceremony is performed on the opening day of the 4-day summit with the presence of Shri. Nitin Gadkari, the Honourable Minister of Road, Transport, and Highway, Government of India.
Mahindra claims to increase performance, cost-effectiveness, and pollution management with its vast experience in creating CNG-powered vehicles. Furthermore, the new Mahindra CNG tractor was created and tested at Chennai's Mahindra Research Valley, setting new standards for alternative engine technology for crop production. This was made possible by providing higher power and performance as compared to diesel-powered tractors.
The CNG tractor is an environmentally favourable option as it minimises emissions by around 70% when compared to diesel tractors. Also, noise levels are lowered due to fewer engine vibrations, which are 3.5 dB lower than diesel tractors. Moreover, this improvement serves both farm and non-farm applications by enabling longer working hours and engine longevity, guaranteeing improved comfort for the operator.
With its CNG technology, the tractor can perform a wide range of agricultural and haulage tasks with ease. This makes them similar to other diesel-powered tractors. Along with this, the Mahindra CNG tractor has four 45-litre water tanks and 24 kilograms of gas on board that are filled to 200 bar of pressure. This leads to an expected savings of Rs 100 per hour over diesel tractors, which makes it a cost-effective choice.
Mahindra's vision for launching CNG tractors is the result of a detailed analysis of the market to make farming easier.
