Shivraj Singh Chouhan Launches AI Platform for Farmers

Jaipur, February 17: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday launched Bharat VISTAAR, an artificial intelligence-based platform aimed at supporting farmers with real-time information. The initiative was announced earlier in the Union Budget for FY27 and is designed to bring key agricultural services onto a single digital platform.

At the event, the Minister also introduced the ‘AI for Agriculture Roadmap’ and an ‘AI Hackathon’ to promote technology-driven solutions in farming.

Single Platform for Farm Information

Bharat VISTAAR brings important farming services together in one place. Farmers can check weather reports, mandi prices, pest and disease alerts, soil health details, and crop advice easily. The platform also gives information about major government schemes, allowing farmers to track their applications, payments, and complaints without visiting different offices.

The service mainly works through voice support. Farmers with mobile phones can call 155261 to get information. A website chatbot and mobile website are already available, and an Android app will be launched soon.

Available in Multiple States

In its first stage, Bharat VISTAAR has been introduced in Maharashtra, Bihar, and Gujarat, with support available in both Hindi and English. The system combines weather reports from the India Meteorological Department, crop market prices from AgMarkNet, and farmer-related records from Agri-Stack. It also provides information on around 10 major central government schemes, so farmers can stay updated in one place.

To give useful local advice, the platform follows crop practices and management guidelines developed by ICAR. It also uses soil health card data to suggest recommendations based on soil condition and region. This helps farmers receive practical guidance suited to their crops and area.
