With this opportunity, M/s Pashabhai Patel & Cod manufacturing tractors in India with Trakstar tractors in 1964. The company was named Tractors & Bulldozer Pvt Ltd in 1969. Since its inception, the company has been renamed and changed ownership several times.

In the year 1978, the company was handed over to the Government of Gujarat with a view to growing its production. But, in the year 1999, the government sold a majority stake of 60% to Mahindra and Mahindra groups. Currently, the Mahindra and Mahindra group with the Government of Gujarat own a 60% and 40% stake respectively. The company was registered as Mahindra Gujarat tractor limited (MGTL). Recently in 2017, Mahindra renamed the company Gromax Agri Equipment limited. Gromax is responsible for manufacturing tractors in its state of the art 55 acres manufacturing plant in Vadodara, Gujarat. Gromax sells tractors under the name Trakstar and Farm Equipment under the brand name Tracmate. The company is now headquartered in Vadodara.
