According to media reports and industry sources, International Tractors Limited (ITL), the parent company of Sonalika and Solis tractors, has sought environmental clearance to establish a new Engineering, Research and Development (ER&D) facility at the Integrated Industrial Township Greater Noida (IITGNL) in Uttar Pradesh.
As per the reports, the proposed project will be developed over 25 acres with an estimated investment of ₹620 crore. The facility is also expected to generate more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs. However, the company has not officially confirmed the proposed investment.
If the proposal receives the required approvals, the new ER&D centre is expected to strengthen Sonalika's research and development capabilities. The facility could play a key role in developing next-generation tractor technologies, improving engineering capabilities, and supporting the launch of future agricultural machinery for both domestic and global markets.
The proposed investment also reflects the company's continued emphasis on expanding its innovation ecosystem as the demand for technologically advanced farm equipment continues to rise.
The proposed investment comes amid growing interest from leading tractor manufacturers in Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, New Holland (a CNH brand) and Escorts Kubota have also received land allotments in Jewar to establish greenfield manufacturing facilities.
These developments indicate that Uttar Pradesh is increasingly becoming an attractive destination for investments in the agricultural machinery sector, supported by improving infrastructure, industrial policies, and expanding opportunities for manufacturing and research.
