Q1 FY27 Tractor Sales Analysis: Mahindra Tops the Market

The following section analyses the quarterly sales performance of Mahindra, Escorts Kubota, Sonalika and VST during April, May and June 2026.

Mahindra Farm Equipment Sector

Mahindra began FY27 with an impressive performance. The company sold 48,411 tractors in April, registering 21% year-on-year growth. Domestic sales increased by 20%, while exports recorded a stronger 30% growth.

Sales remained strong in May, reaching 49,695 units, supported by healthy Rabi harvesting, better crop income, and improved farmer purchasing power.

June became Mahindra's highest-volume month of the quarter with 59,935 tractors sold. Although sales volume increased, year-on-year growth moderated to 12% because the company had already recorded a very strong base during the previous Kharif season.

Overall, Mahindra sold 1,58,041 tractors in Q1 FY27, reflecting 18% annual growth.

What Supported Mahindra's Growth?

According to Veejay Nakra, President – Farm Equipment Business, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., government fertiliser subsidies and state-level support programmes are expected to reduce the impact of possible El Niño conditions. The company also noted that higher base sales during the previous Kharif season made year-on-year comparisons more challenging.
