Retail Tractor Sales Touch 87,977 Units in August 2026

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has released the retail tractor sales data for August 2026. According to the report, 87,977 tractors were sold across India in August 2026, compared with 87,244 units in August 2025. This resulted in a 0.84% year-on-year growth in retail tractor sales.

However, tractor sales dropped sharply compared with the previous month. In July 2026, the industry recorded retail sales of 1,17,349 tractors. This means August sales declined by around 25.03% month-on-month. The weaker monthly performance was linked to monsoon conditions and lower rural demand.

Despite the monthly decline, several major tractor makers recorded higher sales than last year. Some companies also increased their market share during August 2026.

Overall, India's retail tractor sales stood at 87,977 units in August 2026. This was slightly higher than the 87,244 units sold in August 2025, resulting in 0.84% YoY growth.

However, the month-on-month performance was much weaker. July 2026 recorded 1,17,349 units, which means August sales fell by 25.03% compared with July. FADA's August data also showed that tractor demand was affected by monsoon conditions, with rural registrations growing while urban registrations declined year-on-year.

At the same time, Mahindra & Mahindra remained the market leader with a 23.53% share, followed by Swaraj at 18.09% and International Tractors Limited at 13.43%.

Overall, August 2026 saw only a small rise in retail tractor sales compared with last year, while sales fell sharply from July. The performance shows that monsoon conditions and rural demand continued to affect tractor registrations during the month.
