Total Tractor Industry Volumes Reach 88,545 Units

India’s tractor industry recorded strong growth in February 2026, with total sales reaching 88,545 units, up 31% compared to Feb 2025. The increase was supported by active farming, better farmer liquidity, improved credit access, and higher spending on rural infrastructure.

According to the Tractor and Mechanization Association, domestic tractor sales grew 34% to 78,901 units, compared with 58,797 units in February 2025. Exports also increased 8% to 9,644 units, but total industry sales were 9% lower than January’s 97,724 units due to slower post-festival demand.

Mahindra Records Solid Growth in Tractor Sales

Mahindra & Mahindra reported strong growth in February through its Farm Equipment Business. The company sold 32,153 tractors in India, which is 35% higher than the 23,880 units sold in February 2025. Including exports, total tractor sales reached 34,133 units, compared with 25,527 units during the same period last year.

Veejay Nakra said strong rabi sowing and good reservoir water levels helped improve farm activity. He added that a good kharif harvest increased farmers’ income, which supported tractor demand. He also said positive rural sentiment helped maintain strong sales during the month.

Escorts Kubota and Sonalika Show Strong Performance

Escorts Kubota Ltd. sold 10,339 tractors in February 2026, marking a 20.4% increase from 8,590 units sold in February last year. Domestic sales rose 22.1% to 9,725 units, while exports declined slightly to 614 units from 622 units last year.

Meanwhile, Sonalika Tractors recorded its highest February sales, delivering 12,890 tractors during the month. Raman Mittal said the company’s focus on tractors for different farming conditions helped achieve this strong performance.

Rural Economy Supports Tractor Demand

Industry experts say the rise in tractor sales reflects improving rural economic conditions. Government support, better credit access, and increased rural infrastructure spending have strengthened the agriculture sector.

Among manufacturers, VST Tillers Tractors Ltd. recorded the fastest growth in February. Its tractor sales increased 53.2% to 472 units, compared with 308 units during the same month last year.
