White Onion Farming Tips in India - White Onion Benefits

White onions are a little sweeter and milder than regular onions. They're great for chopping and eating raw on sandwiches, salads, or in salsas.
Pick a sunny spot with well-draining soil and remove all weeds. Onions need good soil, so mix in a bucket of compost or manure per square meter before planting.
For white onion planting, plant seeds in rows 12-15 inches apart. Cover them with 1/2 to 3/4 inch of soil. Thin seedlings when they're 2-4 inches tall, spacing them 2-3 inches apart for large onions.
Onions need lots of nitrogen. Use a nitrogen fertilizer like ammonium sulfate or nitrate, applying one cup for every 20 feet of row starting three weeks after planting, then every 2-3 weeks.
Drip irrigation helps improve white onion quality and reduces water stress. It sustains higher yields and bigger bulbs while lowering the risk of onion diseases by applying water directly underground.
White onions can be harvested by hand or with machines. For home gardens, people use forks to loosen the soil and pull the onion bulbs out. In larger farms, tractors and machines do the job.
