Jamun farming is profitable for every farmer due to the numerous health benefits of Jamun and the high demand. Also, trees in Jamun farming take 8 years for commercial yield.
The Jamun crops can be cultivated under tropical and subtropical conditions. However, Jamun farming needs dry weather during the stage of flowering and fruiting.
Jamun thrives best in deep loam soil with proper drainage. The recommended soil pH range is 6.5 to 7.5 for Jamun farming, and heavy soils must be avoided for farming.
Ploughing the land once is sufficient for Jamun cultivation. After ploughing, pits are prepared for planting the seedlings. Also, the pits are provided with Farmyard manure.
The trees of Jamun fruits should be protected from weeds to obtain a profitable yield. To protect the plant from weeds, it is suggested to perform weeding regularly.
The harvesting process is carried out after 9 to 10 years of planting. Also, Jamun fruits are manually harvested by shaking the tree to obtain 90 to 100 kg of fruits per year.
