Grape Cultivation Tips In India

Generally, farmers should plant from October to January, whereas in some regions where the monsoon comes late, planting can also be done from June to July.
Always choose rich, well-drained soil with a pH level between 6.5 and 8.5. To improve soil quality, test the soil, add organic matter, and ensure proper drainage for optimal vine growth and grape quality.
Always choose high-quality, disease-resistant seeds. Soak the seeds in water or apply growth-promoting substances to ensure proper germination and robust seedling growth.
Dig holes appropriately for vine growth and also ensure roots are well spread. Spacing between two rows should be 2-3 m, and the space between vines should be half of the rows’ distance.
Water the soil often to maintain a constant moisture level and avoid waterlogging. One can use drip irrigation method for watering. Use weedicides and pesticides to keep off pests and diseases.
Always handpick or machine harvest the grapes to preserve the grape quality. Generally, grapevines start producing fruit in the second or third year after planting.
