Cucumber Farming – An Excellent Farming Crop In India
Suitable Soil
Cucumber requires heavy to sandy loam soil enriched with organic matter. The soil pH value should be 6 to 7 for optimum growth.
Climatic Conditions
A 25 to 35 degrees celsius temperature is suitable for cucumbers with the annual rainfall of 120 to 150 mm.
Land Preparation
The soil needs to be ploughed 3 to 4 times to obtain the fine tilth stage. Then, farmyard manure is applied to the field for proper nutrition.
Irrigation
It needs a total of 10 to 12 irrigations, and Water should be regularly given in the summers, but it does not need irrigation in the rainy season.
Harvesting
Cucumber gives output about 45 to 60 days after planting and this process is carried out when the fruits become green and soft.
Yield
If proper nutrition and resources are provided, cucumber gives 15000 to 17000 kg of yield from one hectare of land.
