Cucumber Farming – An Excellent Farming Crop In India
Cucumber requires heavy to sandy loam soil enriched with organic matter. The soil pH value should be 6 to 7 for optimum growth.
A 25 to 35 degrees celsius temperature is suitable for cucumbers with the annual rainfall of 120 to 150 mm.
The soil needs to be ploughed 3 to 4 times to obtain the fine tilth stage. Then, farmyard manure is applied to the field for proper nutrition.
It needs a total of 10 to 12 irrigations, and Water should be regularly given in the summers, but it does not need irrigation in the rainy season.
Cucumber gives output about 45 to 60 days after planting and this process is carried out when the fruits become green and soft.
If proper nutrition and resources are provided, cucumber gives 15000 to 17000 kg of yield from one hectare of land.
