On April 7, 2025, the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) released the retail sales report for tractors in India. According to the report, total retail tractor sales for March 2025 stood at 74,013 units.
In comparison, tractor sales for March 2024 were recorded at 78,495 units. This shows a year-on-year decline of 5.71% in the retail tractor market. The decrease highlights a slowdown in demand for tractors in the Indian market during this month.
Mahindra & Mahindra's tractor division sold 17,583 tractors in March 2025. This is slightly lower than the 17,945 units sold in March 2024. The company registered a small sales decline of 2.02%. However, it saw a positive change in market share. Compared to March 2024, its market share rose by 0.90%, indicating strong market positioning despite the slight drop in numbers.
The Swaraj Division of Mahindra & Mahindra sold 14,345 tractors in March 2025. In March 2024, sales were 14,487 units. This marks a minimal decline of 0.98% in year-on-year sales. Interestingly, even with the fall in sales, the company’s market share went up by 0.92%, reflecting stable demand for Swaraj tractors.
International Tractors Limited, known for the Sonalika brand, sold 9,262 tractors in March 2025. This was lower than the 10,354 tractors sold in the same month last year. The company witnessed a sales drop of 10.55%. Its market share also reduced by 0.68%, showing a noticeable decline in performance.
Escorts Kubota posted positive growth in March 2025. The company sold 7,685 tractors during the month, slightly higher than the 7,560 units sold in March 2024. With a growth of 1.65%, Escorts Kubota also saw its market share increase by 0.75%. This shows that the brand is steadily improving its position in the tractor market.
TAFE (Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited) experienced a sharp decline in March 2025. The company sold 7,059 tractors compared to 9,062 units in March 2024. This means sales dropped by 22.10%. TAFE’s market share also fell by 2.00%, making it one of the companies with the biggest decline this month.
John Deere showed good growth in March 2025. It sold 5,931 tractors, compared to 5,624 units sold in March 2024, a rise of 5.46% in sales. The company also gained 0.85% in market share, indicating a healthy upward trend.
Eicher Tractors recorded a fall in sales for March 2025. The company sold 4,547 tractors, down from 5,279 units sold in March 2024. This marks a 13.87% decline. The market share also dipped by 0.59%, showing a weaker month for the brand.
CNH Industrial, the maker of New Holland tractors, sold 3,026 units in March 2025. This is lower than the 3,358 units sold in March 2024. The company saw a drop of 9.89% in sales. Its market share also decreased by 0.19% compared to last year.
Kubota India recorded sales of 1,118 tractors in March 2025. In March 2024, the company sold 1,592 units. This is a sharp fall of 29.77% in sales. Kubota’s market share dropped by 0.52%, making it one of the brands with the steepest decline.
Other tractor brands, not listed above, showed positive growth. These brands sold 3,457 units in March 2025. In March 2024, they had sold 3,234 tractors. This shows an increase of 6.90% in total sales for smaller or regional brands. Their collective market share also rose by 0.55%.
