The domestic tractor market in India witnessed a major boost in March 2025. According to the latest data, 79,946 tractors were sold across the country, a significant 25.40% growth compared to 63,755 units sold in March 2024.
This sharp rise in sales shows a strong recovery and growing demand in the agricultural sector. Positive crop output, improved rural sentiment, and supportive government schemes could be some of the reasons behind this growth.
India’s largest tractor manufacturer, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Group, continued to lead the domestic market. The company sold 32,582 tractors in March 2025, marking a massive 34.21% growth compared to 24,276 tractors sold in March 2024. This strong performance also helped M&M improve its market share. It rose from 38.08% last year to 40.76% this year, gaining 2.68%. The brand’s wide network, farmer trust, and product variety are helping it retain leadership.
TAFE Group, known for its Massey Ferguson and Eicher tractor brands, sold 12,901 units in March 2025. This is a growth of 18.60% from 10,878 units sold in March 2024. Despite this increase, TAFE’s market share declined from 17.06% to 16.14%, a drop of 0.93%. This shows that while sales increased, other brands grew faster, reducing TAFE’s overall market portion.
Escorts Kubota, another key player, saw good sales in March 2025. It sold 10,775 tractors, up 15.18% from 9,355 units in March 2024. However, its market share slipped from 14.67% to 13.48%, showing a decline of 1.20%. This suggests that while the brand is growing, it is facing stiff competition from others in the segment.
Sonalika Tractors, a popular name among farmers, achieved sales of 10,485 units in March 2025. Compared to 8,682 units in March 2024, this is a growth of 20.77%. But even with higher sales, the brand’s market share declined slightly from 13.62% to 13.12%, showing a fall of 0.50%. The brand continues to hold a strong place in the mid-range tractor segment.
John Deere, known for its advanced farming technology, had a strong month. It sold 6,936 tractors in March 2025, compared to 5,523 units last year. This marks a growth of 25.58%. Its market share slightly improved from 8.66% to 8.68%, gaining 0.01%. This shows the brand is maintaining its steady pace in the Indian market, especially in premium and high HP segments.
New Holland's March 2025 performance was remarkable. The company sold 4,093 tractors, a strong 33.67% jump from 3,062 units sold in March 2024. It also increased its market share from 4.80% to 5.12%, gaining 0.32%. The brand's modern features and international technology are likely contributing to this solid growth.
VST sold 550 tractors in March 2025, up 15.79% from 475 units sold in March 2024. Despite the sales rise, its market share fell slightly from 0.75% to 0.69%, a decline of 0.06%. The brand is known for compact and small-size tractors, mainly used in horticulture and inter-row farming.
Indo Farm sold 533 tractors in March 2025. This is a 29.37% increase from 412 units sold in March 2024. Its market share also rose slightly from 0.65% to 0.67%, gaining 0.02%. The brand’s affordable pricing and focus on rural regions may be supporting this growth.
Preet sold 485 tractors in March 2025, compared to 462 units in March 2024. This is a 4.98% increase. However, the market share dropped from 0.72% to 0.61%, showing a decline of 0.12%. This indicates a need for stronger sales push or wider distribution to stay competitive.
Captain Tractors, a brand mostly dealing with mini and compact tractors, sold 367 units in March 2025. In March 2024, it had sold 482 units. This is a major drop of 23.86%. The market share also decreased from 0.76% to 0.46%, a decline of 0.30%. This performance shows the brand struggled in March.
ACE Tractors saw excellent growth in March 2025. The company sold 177 tractors, a massive 101.14% increase compared to 88 units sold in March 2024. Its market share also grew from 0.14% to 0.22%, gaining 0.08%. The company may be seeing benefits from newer models or improved marketing strategies.
SDF, known for the Deutz-Fahr brand, sold 62 tractors in March 2025. It had sold 60 units in March 2024, showing a small growth of 3.33%. However, its market share slightly decreased from 0.09% to 0.08%, dropping 0.02%. The brand continues to hold a niche position in the Indian market.
