When grown under well-drained sandy loam and medium loam soils rich in organic content, it gives the best yield. However, they can grow in acidic soil. It cannot grow under waterlogged soil. The best planting time is when maximum and minimum temperature is from 30-32\u00b0C and 18-20\u00b0C, each.<\/p>\n<p>For early season crops, the complete sowing process starts from 25th September to 10th October. In medium duration crops, the sowing process should be done from the first week of October to the third week of October. For late duration crops, the complete sowing process starts from the 3rd week of October to the 1st week of November. For the spring season, the second fortnight of January is the best time for planting.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h5><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Spacing\"><\/span><strong>Spacing<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For planting, you should make the distance of 20 cm between tubers and 60 cm between ridges manually or mechanically. Planting distance varies with the size of tubers. There are 2-4 rows of potato planters available in the market and have an excellent capacity to produce 6000-14000 potatoes per hour. Some of the planters also come with fertilizer application mechanisms. Semi-Automatic Potato Planter<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>It comes with a horizontal, rotating feed ring with cups, but it does not have the tool to check whether each cup has a seed potato or not. Due to this, it requires manual labour to check every cup. It also comes as a 2-4 rows planter, but comparatively, it is quite slower than an automatic planter.
